Courageous Ian Gould is going more than the extra mile at the end of November to raise awareness of one of the UK’s deadliest health conditions.

Ian, a parts-centre operative at First Choice Group, will run 10-kilometres – that’s about 6.2 miles – across Chasewater on November 26 in support of national charity Diabetes UK.

As a diabetic himself, Ian knows the trials and tribulations of living with the condition and is keen to do his bit to help boost research into finding a cure.

“Fitness certainly helps my diabetes so this 10-kilometre run seemed a logical thing to do,” he said.

“Living with the condition changes your life forever. Your diet, the way you look at food and what you eat becomes controlling. I have to inject myself three times daily and carry out at least six tests on my blood sugar daily too.”

The 43year-old has previously completed several mountain bike fundraisers, including a 56-mile-ride, to raise money in support of Diabetes research.
