The IT/Technology Support Officer will provide effective IT assistance across all aspects of the business and will provide back up and support to the IT Department. The position is responsible for supporting and maintaining the Desktop operating systems, performing basic server tasks and Monitoring the IT infrastructure plus general maintenance of all IT-related hardware/software. The position provides exposure to a broad range of IT-related projects and activities.

This position would be ideal for someone who has at least 1 year IT support experience, who is looking to continue in the IT Industry and progress - you will be analytically minded and will have an interest in software and application support to businesses.  A passion for customer service is a must as well as a positive attitude, the ability to self-motivate and work effectively both individually and as part of a team.

Duties/areas of responsibility:

The position will involve the following areas of responsibility

• Escalating IT issues to the IT manager where necessary

• Responsible for managing backups

• Diagnosing and resolving technical issues

• Undertaking small-to medium-sized IT projects as instructed by the IT manager

• Providing desktop and minor server support

• Supporting and maintaining desktops and laptops
• Setting up and configuring new desktops and laptops

• Installing authorised software to desktops and laptops

• Ensuring security and upgrades are applied desktops and laptops and kept up to date

• Antivirus installation to all desktops and laptops

• Fault finding to desktops and laptops

• Reporting faults and maintaining logs on desktops, laptops, servers and hardware

• Completing internal user moves including phones

• Patching of network and phones

• Ensuring all logs for equipment and users are maintained

• Setting up and configuring new core servers

• Creating purchase requisitions for IT hardware/software

• Setting up new users and disabling expired accounts in accordance with HR requirements

This role requires someone who has at least 12 months experience in a similar role, with a knowledge of MS Office troubleshooting, as well as a good understanding of PC hardware and software set-up and configuration and TCP/IP networking skills.This is a full time permanent position suitable for some who has a patient and methodical approach and who is also a team player with a great attitude to communication and problem solving.
