Bosses at Combico UK, the specialist training division of First Choice Group, are mulling innovative plans for staging a safety conference for gas engineers.
Technical Training Manager, Martin Dagnall, said the event, which could take place this Autumn, would be a vehicle to inform engineers of updates in legislation and their legal responsibilities as qualified professionals.
The conference would assist the industry’s CPD (Continuing Professional Development) programme by providing engineers and manufacturers with an opportunity to network and share information.

“There is an underlining problem affecting the industry at the moment and it concerns the supply and distribution of technical information,” said Martin.
“Companies which are gas safe registered receive it but the uncertainty surrounds how much of this information is passed onto the engineers and at what rate?
“UK regulations are a lot more robust than the rest of Europe and legislation around health and safety for gas engineering is being updated all the time. Terminology can also be confusing.
“It’s possible we could look into plans for holding an open day here at First Choice Group, a seminar where engineers will receive the latest information on new legislation and working practices.”

Martin added such an event would be integral to Combico UK plans to provide greater provision and opportunity for gas engineers.
“Combico UK is a specialised business which is dedicated to supporting the commercial catering industry,” he said.
“Our focus is clear, quality matters so our training is organised and facilitated to ensure engineers receive both the knowledge and the experience they will need to succeed in the industry. Having this type of conference here would strengthen that commitment to our customers.”
