Our new state-of-the-art warehouse will achieve national recognition next month as we compete for two prestigious industry awards.

The futuristic automated storage application that Industore has put into our 90,000 square-foot Parts Automation Centre has been shortlisted in the Warehouse Efficiency and New Facility categories at the 2017 Logistics Awards.

Incorporating twenty Hänel automated storage systems, the application assists First Choice warehouse staff to easily and efficiently retrieve items from over 420,000 spare parts, consumables, tools and accessories which are kept in storage.

Managing Director, John Whitehouse said: “This automated solution provides us with a platform that allows the business to be more efficient. It means we can offer even higher levels of quality and a consistently faster service for our clients.
“The quality and reliability of the equipment we now have, combined with the support and knowledge of the Industore team, means First Choice Group can continue to grow and excel for many years to come.”

The awards ceremony, held to celebrate operational excellence, takes place at London’s Grange St. Paul’s Hotel on Thursday 21st September.

Logistics Manager with First Choice Group, Mark Benson, added: "The new application has resulted in a significant increase in order picking, putaway levels, from 25 orders per man-hour using traditional racking and bin storage to 100 orders per man-hour when stock is located in the leanlifts.

"The improvement has been created by the automation of parts and putaway locations being presented to the operatives and then, for picked parts, moved to despatch on the conveyor system."
