ACS Gas Training & Assessments

Combico UK is the specialist training arm of the First Choice Group and provides technical training courses and assessments for engineers and technicians working within the commercial foodservice industry. Its dedicated onsite training facility, conveniently located at the centre of the country in Cannock, has been approved by Logic Certification to carry out ACS gas training and assessment. Training is provided by a team of professional trainers who have many years experience in the commercial catering equipment industry

Training Kitchen

Combico provides the very best in technical training. Facilities include a fully equipped functional professional kitchen together with the very latest in educational technology. Videos, presentations and exploded view drawings are displayed in high definition quality on an 84 inch interactive screen. The built in PC software and ‘multitouch’ functions ensure that trainees can actively engage with the training materials and take away useful digital information via the USB port. It also ensures that the training team can provide effective and engaging courses for those who attend.

CCCN1 – Core commercial catering

This course includes training and assessment on the Core Commercial Catering Gas Safety (CCCN1) ACS qualification, including products and characteristics of combustion, ventilation and flueing (extraction system) requirements for commercial catering kitchens and installation of pipework and fittings for commercial catering appliances. To work on gas equipment installed in a commercial kitchen the engineer requires CCCN1 and at least one COMCAT qualification.

COMCAT 1 – Open burner equipment
Training and assessment designed to test the gas safety competence of an operative in the work of install, exchange, disconnect, service, repair, breakdown and commissioning of open and solid top ranges, stockpot stoves, warming ovens, bain marie hot cupboards, forced & natural convection ovens, boiling pans and expansion type water boilers.

COMCAT 3 – Deep fat & pressure fryers
Training and assessment designed to test the gas safety competence of an operative in the work of install, exchange, disconnect, service, repair, breakdown and commissioning of deep fat and pressure fryers, together with bratt pans, griddles, grills, salamanders and simulated charcoal (chargrill)grills.

COMCAT 5 – Forced draught burner appliances
Training and assessment designed to test the gas safety competence of an operative in the work of install, exchange, disconnect, service, repair, breakdown and commissioning commercial catering appliances covered by the scope of COMCAT 1 and 3 but fitted with forced draught gas burners.
