23rd December 2010

The CESA Conference 2010, held in association with FCSI, was recently held at the Celtic Manor Resort in South Wales. Another informative, engaging and enjoyable conference from CESA – the event was an outstanding success.

Congratulations to Steve Loughton C.F.S.P., MD of Standex Food Service Equipment, who won the CESA/Caterer & Hotelkeeper Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Catering Equipment Industry for 2010. Steve has made a hugely significant contribution during 37 years in the industry. He’s been on the CESA council for many years, advocated the merging of CEMA and CEIA back in 1994, and was instrumental in developing CESA’s relationships with NAFEM and EFCEM.

He’s also the only CESA chair to have served for three years. In announcing the award, CESA chair Mick Shaddock praised Steve’s great business acumen, ability to think ‘outside the box’ and unstinting support for the industry.

Falcon, with its Induction Range E2491i, was announced at the CESA Conference Gala Dinner as the overall winner of the FCSI Sustainable Catering Equipment Award for 2010.

Simon Hulstone and his team, who will be representing the UK at the Bocuse d’Or in Lyon in January 2011, created a stunning meal for the 145 who attended the Conference’s informal dinner, held on the Thursday night. Celebrity auctioneer Brian Turner cajoled his audience into parting with a grand total of £17,490 for lots donated by many of the industry’s top names, to raise the funds the team needs to compete. Brian later called on Simon to go to Lyon and show the world just how brilliant top British chefs are.
